Ian is an accomplished photographer and author based in the rural town of Matamata, in the North Island of New Zealand.
His love of country, film, travel, photography and warbirds have combined to produce some remarkable books and images.
Ian is one of New Zealand’s largest selling non-fiction authors. His The Lord of the Rings Location Guidebook, was one of the inaugural Booksellers Platinum Award titles, and Cameras in Narnia, simultaneously published in four countries, had one of the largest initial print runs of any New Zealand book.
He has now published 18 books featuring New Zealand, its varied landscapes, warbirds and film.
He is currently the Media & Communications Manager for Hobbiton Movie Set & Farm Tours. Previously he was the founding director of the New Zealand Fighter Pilots Museum in Wanaka and is author of the highly successful aviation series Warbirds Over Wanaka.
Ians images have appeared around the world in travel articles, magazines, books and book-covers. In 2005 he was awarded an MNZM for services to tourism and writing.
Ian has appeared on a number of television programmes and regularly escorts international media around his country.
